During the warm months, our thoughts turn to the great outdoors whether it be those summer home projects or welcomed vacations. We tend to forget other activities that we often leave for fall and winter.
We are just past half way through the year so it’s a good time to review your investments and your budget. Are you on track for the year? Looking over your investments, if you are not earning what you expected, or concerned about your next tax liability, it’s a good time to make adjustments based on the advice of a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or your CPA.
Budgets during the summer are like diets during the holidays. They easy to ignore in the short run. In both cases we might have to do extra belt-tightening later to make up for our indulgences. Stop for a moment and consider how well you are sticking to your budget. If you are slacking a bit, you can correct your course with a few simple changes. In the pleasant weather think about cooking a few more meals in the comfort of your home or on the grill in the backyard instead of going out and sitting inside a restaurant for a heavy meal. This may also allow you to adhere to your diet as well eating smaller meals with the fresh fruits and vegetables of the season.
Set aside a little time to talk with your financial planner to be assured that your money is doing all it can for you. The market is always fluctuating and although most of us have financial strategies for the long run, some changes can make your money work harder. That’s why it’s worth it to have a CFP and to get advice from that professional.
