On July 4, 241 years ago the Continental Congress voted then adopted the Declaration of Independence decreeing self-rule and severing ties from Britain. This event marks the birth of our nation and the inevitability of the Revolutionary War.
Today we have much to be proud of since we decided to go it on our own. This great nation has become a world leader and fought for liberty as well as becoming a tremendous industrial and financial power. This celebration is about more than fireworks and picnics. It is a time to stop and realize how fortunate we are and how much we have accomplished. We continue to strive toward “a better union,” even today and improvement is part of the American spirit.
Best wishes for your holiday from Les Merritt and staff. Enjoy and be safe. Happy Fourth of July and a have a wonderful summer!
